Today, iOS developer Gui Rambo discovered a hidden reference in Xcode 10, which is still in beta state, of an ‘iPhone xx’.
iPhone ‘XX’ with 6.1-inch screen
Although no one expects the iPhone 20 or iPhone XX to show up next month, this may be the clue that will lead us to a marketing name we’ve never seen before. During this year, rumors came to us of an iPhone SE 2 and also of an iPhone supposedly starting at a lower price with an LCD screen of 6.1-inches. So, is it the same?
With this finding, developers began looking for more information on Xcode 10. In fact, they found that the iPhone ‘xx’ is of 6.1-inches and also gives the name “iPhone 9.7” or “LCP”.
Will it have an A10 Fusion processor?
One of the most interesting details that programmers have discovered after the inspection was that the iPhone ‘xx’ should include an A10 processor; the same processor that is currently on the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. It is expected that this iPhone has a price around $700. However, the tech giant Apple should remove some features, such as 3D Touch, to keep the price down and add Face ID as the authentication mode. But will the public give up certain features to buy an iPhone with a processor that is already two years old, without OLED screen, but that includes Face ID? Moreover, when the target audience of this iPhone is already accustomed to the Touch ID.
There is little time left for the Apple event
The tech giant Apple is expected to introduce three new iPhones this year (2019). Two of them are expected to have a 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED screen and the A12 processor, assuming that the tech giant Apple keeps the logic behind the name of the iPhones processors. There should also be a third model, not top of the range, with a lower entry price and this could be the mysterious iPhone ‘xx’. In a few weeks, we will know what the Cupertino company, of course, I am talking about the tech giant Apple is preparing for the long-awaited event of presenting the new iPhones.
