Who Are the Blackwoods in House of the Dragon?

House Blackwood is a very old house in Westeros stationed in the riverlands and are big supporters of the Targaryens throughout Westeros’ history. House Blackwood was a significant force during the War of the Conquest, pledging their allegiance to Aegon the Conqueror. As episode 4 unfolds, we see a very young member of House Blackwood—Willem Blackwood—pitching a marriage to Rhaenyra. Willem Blackwood is an entirely new character in House of the Dragon, though it appears his character borrows heavily from Samwell Blackwood. Should that be the case, Willem Blackwood will be a major supporter to Rhaenyra Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons. The next time we see him, he may very well be a young man ready to defend House Targaryen, so keep your eyes on Willem Blackwood. Now you should have a better understanding of who the Blackwoods are in House of the Dragon.
